W Y Carman. An A5 hardback book, 80 pages beatifully illustrated throughout in colour. It gives a short history of toy/model soldier manufacture and covers flats, wood, paper, ceramic, solid and hollow-cast lead, composition, plastic, aluminium and connosieur figures. The author also manufactured his own range of solid metal figures, which I would have to say are amongst some of my favorites. Published 1973. Charles Letts & Co. ISBN 0-85097-072-5 believed to be currently out of print.
